Shooting Melanie and Matt's engagement session was a TON of fun. They picked out a bunch of hot spots that they frequented when they lived in the Upper West Side in New York City. They chose the subway station they always got out of, the supermarket they always shopped at, the cafe they always got their sweets on and then the gardens they used to take strolls in nearby their old apartment. This entire engagement photo shoot was everything that represented their relationship-- and that's what made it so special. Even just being a part of the New York City traffic jams was all part of their lifestyle. Not to mention- I love shooting in the most unique places- supermarkets O__O!! Working with these two was so easy and fun and these photos definitely capture their relationship and personality. I love what I do and I love being a New York City wedding photographer. Here are some of my fav shots! Enjoy!
Scouring Manhattan, from the Upper West Side, to Grand Central and ending at the West Village; a Cozy Engagement Session
Hannah and Nate both are transplant New Yorkers. So being here is probably temporary. So of course having their engagement photographs done in New York City was the best choice! So we explored their neighborhood on the upper west side, stopped by Grand Central and ended in the west village and photographed at some iconic NYC locations! Here are some highlights:
Gorgeous New York City West Village Engagement Session
I’m definitely a New Yorker through and through, and I love photographing in this beautiful city. This couple wanted to capture the charming streets of the West Village- which is one of my personal favorite locations! We embarked on a journey to discover some of the neighborhood's most picturesque spots, each corner offering a new opportunity for capturing their love story in all its beauty. Against the backdrop of iconic brownstones and bustling cafes, we immersed ourselves in the vibrant energy of the city. From cozy stoops to leafy parks, each location provided a unique backdrop that perfectly complemented the couple's love.
As we strolled along the cobblestone streets, laughter and conversation filled the air, creating a relaxed and intimate atmosphere. And what better way to top off our photoshoot adventure than with a sweet treat from Van Leeuwen? With ice cream in hand, we continued our journey, indulging in the simple pleasures of life and creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Through my lens, I sought to capture not just the love between this beautiful couple, but also the spirit of the city that surrounded us. The West Village served as the perfect canvas for their love story, each photograph a testament to the timeless charm and romance of New York City. As the day drew to a close, we bid farewell to the West Village, hearts full of cherished memories and smiles that would linger long after the photoshoot ended. It was a joy and honor to capture the love of this couple in the heart of New York City, a city that will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
A Dumbo Brooklyn Snow Storm Engagement Session in New York City with Allaya & Damany
This couple probably has one of the coolest "destiny" type stories. In short, Allaya worked as a barista in Starbucks, and one day, Damany went in with his buddy, and his buddy dares him to hit on Allaya. Allaya at the time had a boyfriend and completely disregards all of Damany's advances, and even ignores his phone calls. Fast forward a few years later at a DIFFERENT Starbucks, New York City location, Damany applies for a job, and guess who his coworker is!!! Now here they are, engaged and getting married! What a sweet story-- revolving Starbucks. Also, the best is that Allaya and Damany were super cool with shooting their engagement session during a snow storm in dumbo brooklyn, new york city!!
So of COURSE we had to do a few photographs inside Starbucks.. By the way, these two are pretty huge gamers :B so I thought this was pretty funny. Haha
I give so much props to these two. It was literally the day after our Big NEMO snow storm in New York City-- and they were being such super troopers by being able to stand still in such cold weather! I loved working with these two fun-loving and hospitable people. I can't wait for their wedding in a week!! :)
